Stockman's Challenge

A Stockman’s Challenge event consists of a Dry Work pattern and a Cattlework phase. Both of these phases are designed to test the ability of horse and rider. The Dry work pattern contains spins, sliding stops & roll-backs. The cattlework phase is similar to a campdraft and seeks to identify a horse that can easily control a beast and demonstrates his intended purpose of working cattle in the bush.

Stone River Ranch are very proud to support the ARBC Stockmans Challenge each year and promote the versatility of their own horses in challenge events. Working in conjunction with trainer Leah Read Performance Horses and Working Dogs, the horses are carefully sort in their disciplines to see who is more cow orientated and produces that grit and determination in their work ethic. These lucky few are broken in by Foundation Horse Training where Chris Gould solidifies their foundation, then onto Leah and her team in Mundubbera to start their journey in the discipline of challenge.
